Benches Cafe sits quietly beside a childcare centre along Clementi Road, offering a calm spot to enjoy a simple breakfast or a casual coffee break. The cafe is modest in size, with seating options indoors as well as a small outdoor area overlooking the nearby park, lending it a relaxed, leafy vibe that draws locals looking for a low-key pause from their day.

This is a place where the pace slows down — mornings on weekdays seem to be the sweet spot, when neighbourhood parents and nearby residents drop by for fragrant coffee and homey baked treats. The cafe’s atmosphere is unhurried and polite, with an emphasis on keeping conversation gentle, making it ideal for those wanting a quiet corner to start their day or catch up over light bites.

The menu highlights straightforward comfort food with a few thoughtful touches: soft eggs benedict, café-style grilled cheese and ham sandwiches, and waffles served with ice cream stand out as repeat orders. A notable detail is the use of local ingredients like blue pea flower for their herbal drink, giving a subtle local twist to the offerings. Visitors also appreciate the freshly baked cookies and brownies served with ice cream — treats that complement the strong, aromatic coffee quite well.

Benches Cafe is run almost singlehandedly by Auntie Doris, whose warm and down-to-earth approach shapes much of the experience. Patience and friendly chatter add to the homely environment, making regulars feel right at home with personalized interaction and genuine interest in feedback.

Given its location and quiet rhythm, Benches suits parents picking up or dropping off children at the childcare centre, local residents taking a peaceful moment away from busier parts of town, or anyone looking to enjoy simple, well-made food without frills. Weekends are typically off, as the cafe aligns its opening hours roughly with nearby school times, so weekdays remain the best opportunity to experience this slice of daily Clementi life.

Auntie Doris is so nice and motherly. Her coffee is really fragrant and her waffles are so tasty. A little cafe worth coming over and over again.

Simple, Cosy, simple but yet tasty food, nice greenery view. There is indoors and a small outdoor facing the park. Doris is really nice to chat with, easy going and very friendly. its not open on weekends, and follow the Chatworth school hours, generally. forgot to buy the cookies before leaving! Will bring my kid next time!

Chanced upon this cafe at random because I was nearby, and it was a lovely experience. The patrons are all polite and kept noise to a minimum as I believe they are all regulars, and the auntie (Doris, from the other reviews) single-handedly manning the place is warm and kind, and such a good baker! The waffles and cookies are yummy (she let me try a cookie from a fresh batch). I’ll definitely be back.

It is a pleasant cafe to stop by to have a quick bite or a breakfast. It's a small cafe residing beside the childcare. It was a serene and peaceful experience as I had my breakfast fix in that particular morning. The shop owner was very engaging and friendly, asking feedbacks if there are areas where she could improve on the food. I'll definitely come back again.

Beautiful quiet environment . Salad is fresh and tasty . Coffee is good. Enjoy the experience. If you drive , enter from Clementi road side. There is heavy door to enter from the back of cafe. To enter from front of cafe , walk from park towards the building occupied by a school.

A very cute and cozy cafe tucked away in the corner of a building next to a preschool! I went to grab lunch and study, and the lady was very kind and friendly. My friend had a similar experience where he went and ended up talking with the lady there for a long time. The grilled cheese and ham sandwich was delicious and I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. I wish I had more time to visit again!

Wasn't easy to find the place but it was worth the walk. The food and drinks were good. The speculoos brownie was yummy. I love the grilled cheese with ham sandwich and the hot chocolate. Will be back again soon.

Nice and cosy cafe tucked away in a preschool perched on top of Clementi Woods park. Love the grilled cheese sandwich with ham is awesome! Must try. And if you in luck, you may find the monster cookie - packed with chocolate chip, oats, M&M with peanut butter. Not overly sweet at all! Such a treat!
